What adhesive should I use to install Jelinek's QuietCork cork underlayment?Updated 2 months ago

While QuietCork cork underlayment can be dry-laid (not glued) for floating floor applications, installations where the finished flooring is adhered or bonded over the cork require the cork underlayment to be secured to the subfloor first. In glue-down wood flooring applications, the adhesive used for the flooring is often also used to bond the cork underlayment. In addition, a contact adhesive can be used if properly applied (applied to both the underlayment and subfloor). Below are examples of adhesives that specifically indicate they are suitable for cork underlayment applications:

  • Roberts 7250 Cork Underlayment Adhesive
Suitable for cork underlayment in rolls and sheets. Approved substrates include concrete and plywood.
(Review the technical data sheet or contact Roberts to confirm suitability for your specific application.)

  • HENRY 1171N SureLock - Suitable for cork sheet underlayment. Approved substrates include concrete, plywood, primed gypsum subfloors, and non-cushioned vinyl.
(Review the technical data sheet or contact Henry to confirm suitability for your specific application.)

  • Mapei Ultrabond ECO 222
Used for cork underlayment in roll or sheet form, used for cork underlayment installed beneath tile or stone (not for use under wood flooring). Approved substrates include plywood, concrete, and self-leveling underlayment.
(Review the technical data sheet or contact Mapei to confirm suitability for your specific application.)

Important:
Always read and follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions and technical data sheets before installation. Some adhesives are approved only for cork sheets, while others may be approved for both cork rolls and sheets. Manufacturer guidelines may include specific requirements for substrate preparation, trowel size, open time, curing conditions, moisture limits, and application method. Using an adhesive outside of its intended cork application may negatively affect the performance of the underlayment and the finished floor.
